WHAT IS THE PPL

ONE LICENCE,
TWO KINDS OF PILOT

Your First Step Into Aviation

The UK Private Pilot Licence (PPL) lets you fly light aircraft as pilot in command for non-commercial purposes. For some, it is the whole dream: weekend flying, new airfields, friends in the passenger seats. For others, it is the foundation for professional aviation training, the licence every airline ambition is built on.

Built Around Your PPL Success

Either way, the theory comes with it. To gain a UK CAA PPL(A) you must pass nine theory exams alongside practical flight training at an approved flight school. SkyLearner’s online ground school prepares you for those nine exams with structure and support, whichever kind of pilot you’re becoming.

FAQ

QUESTIONS STUDENT
PILOTS ASK US

Is This Course Suitable If I’m Completely New To Aviation?

Yes. The course has no licence prerequisite, the material is written for student pilots by active pilots, and instructor support is there whenever a topic won’t click.

How Old Do I Need To Be To Start?

You can start PPL theory from 16. Younger and ready to start? Contact us, and we’ll talk through the options.

Can I Study Alongside My Flight Training?

Yes, and many students combine flying with theory from the outset. Structured study makes your practical training far more effective.

I Want To Be A Professional Pilot. Is This Still The Right Course?

Yes. The PPL is the foundation for professional aviation training. Pass these nine exams, gain your licence, and our CPL, IR and ATPL theory courses cover the road ahead.

How Do The Live Knowledge Checks Work?

Each subject ends with a mandatory 1-hour group session with an instructor via MS Teams. Complete the material first, ask your final questions, and leave with your exam recommendation and subject certificate.

What’s The Difference Between The Pricing Options?

The course is identical in all three. Only the payment and access period change. The monthly option renews until you cancel. The other options are fixed periods with no renewals.
