Your UK medical, licence verification, language and radio requirements, rating requirements and skill test are separate. We can refer you to reliable flight schools we have established relationships with for the practical side.

Good questions. Straight answers.

A few things
worth clearing up.

Can I convert an FAA, South African or EASA PPL to a UK PPL?

Yes, an eligible ICAO-compliant aeroplane licence can provide a route to a UK PPL(A). Your flight time, licence history and other conditions determine the requirements. EASA licences are also covered by the CAA’s published conversion routes; previously holding a UK licence can make a difference.

Is it really just two theory subjects?

For eligible pilots using the 100-hour conversion route, the theory examinations are Air Law and Human Performance. That is the theory part, not the whole conversion. Medical, language, licence verification, rating and practical requirements still apply.

What if I have exactly 100 hours?

Article 9 specifies at least 100 hours of flight time as a pilot in the relevant aircraft category. Exactly 100 hours meets that threshold. We’ll review the supporting evidence and the other conditions with you.

Do I have to buy a full ground school course for Route 1?

No. The CAA lists no ground training requirement for Route 1. Our two-subject preparation is designed to help you get ready for the UK exams. SkyLearner requires appropriate preparation and assessment before providing any exam recommendation for which we are responsible; we’ll explain those arrangements before enrolment.

Can I study from outside the UK?

Yes. Our theory preparation is online, so you can study before travelling to the UK. Plan exam, medical and practical arrangements separately, and confirm requirements before booking travel.

Does the course include the flight test or CAA fees?

This page describes theory preparation. It does not include the aircraft, practical training, skill test, medical or CAA licensing fees. We’ll confirm the course price and any examination arrangements before you enrol.
