What questions should I ask before buying an online theory course for ATPL, CPL or IR?

The first question is: is it an approved course? Is there a CAA approval for that course, in the case of the UK? Is that course actually going to work for me?

Some people love the idea of doing an intensive course until they realise the practicalities. Guess what? Life gets in the way. Sometimes you want an intensive course. Sometimes you need to spread it out a bit. There's nothing wrong with that. Look for a course that works for you in terms of duration.

Also, look for a course that focuses on the people. The content is part of this journey: you're going to learn all this new content. But how are you managed through that path? Are you aware of some of the pitfalls, the pros and cons, different ways of doing things, and things that are more efficient? Not just in theory, but in your flying and flight training journey. You should feel happy enough to talk to your instructor about something coming up.

Ultimately, when you're choosing, you're looking for the right type of course. You may need flexible payment options. You may need a course that's done from home rather than one in person, or vice versa. If a course is CAA-approved, it has met the standard. It's also about whether it's the right training provider for you. Do you get the right vibe?

If you're not sure, we'd love to help you out. Get in touch with us. We do custom training plans to help make sure you know when you're on target or off target. You can reach out and talk to us about problems during the course, whether they're to do with your flying or your theory.

We offer flexible payment options because we get it: life's expensive, and sometimes you need a bit of help with cash flow. If you'd like to know more, get in touch with us.
